Supreme Court stays 4% Muslim Reservation

The Supreme Court allowed four per cent reservation in educational institutions and government jobs to Muslims belonging to backward communities in Andhra Pradesh, on 25 March, 2010.

A bench of Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan, Justices JM Panchal and BS Chauhan passed the order after hearing the petition filed by Andhra Pradesh government challenging the verdict of the High Court striking down a state law providing 4 per cent reservation in educational institutions and government jobs to the Muslim community.
